Why Don't Most Affiliate Marketers Succeed?

Many people join affiliate marketing programs but they are not very successful with it. Affiliate marketing is thought to be one of the easiest ways to make a decent income online. Don't get me wrong, you can make money with affiliate marketing. The truth is that it's not as easy as it is made out to be. You will have to put some time and thought into it. Today I would like to address 3 major mistakes that people make when they start with affiliate marketing. These mistakes can be deadly to your online business.

By avoiding these major mistakes you will have a better chance at earning a decent income from affiliate marketing.

The way that affiliate marketing works is that you get paid a commission for promoting other peoples products and services. The Merchant is the person responsible for paying you. Your job as an affiliate marketer is to make sure that the service or product you are promoting gets seen by other buyers.

1. You don't want to send your prospect directly to the merchants website. A lot of times a prospect will take one look and head to the mountains. You want to pre-sell the service or product first. Use a capture page to get email addresses of visitors to your web site. You also want to give them something to sweeten the pot. Maybe give out a free report or a free ebook or software.

2. Make your website simple to navigate. Make it simple. A lot of flash and glitz will confuse a prospect. If there is a lot of affiliate links all over the place they may not go where you would like them to go. Simple text links have been proven to work better and outperform banner and other types of ads.

3. Use redirect links or cloak your affiliate link. Commission theft does occur. Somebody could see your affiliate id and just take it off of the link and you don't get paid. Another reason to use simple text links.

An affiliate marketer making theses common mistakes will not become successful in this field. Use a capture page by offering a newsletter or free report to get emails of prospects. Once you start getting email addresses you can start your advertising campaign. Once again people don't need a lot of clutter when they are wanting to buy something. Also, remember to cloak or redirect your affiliate link.

3. You could also do a Joint Venture with other list owners and web site owners. They advertise your web site to their lists and you advertise their web site to your list.

Have you discovered the secret to having more fun while working less and getting paid more?

As a man who's been where you are, Jim Edwards knows what he is talking about! Jim sold his very first e-book in 1997 and has steadily worked on building his online business since. He started out just making a few hundred dollars in sales, now he makes as much in one day as most people earn in a month, or even in a year, with their online businesses.
Many of you have probably heard of Jim because of his extremely successful e-books, that he has authored or co-authored, such as "How to write and publish your own eBook...". But the price that he has had to pay has been heavy!!!
Jim had become successful but he was putting in 12 -18 hours everyday. He was pretty much chained to his computer.
Then something happened to change it all.
Jim was talking to his dad, Dallas Edwards, last summer and what came out of that discussion was and idea for a fantastic new eBook.
Dallas Edwards is a man with many years of experience in getting things done easier, better, faster, and cheaper in the business world.
After Jim applied some of the principles he and his dad had talked about to his online business things started changing. He was working an average of 4-8 hours less a day, his projects were getting done quicker and he had more free time to take a vacation. What principles do you think Jim started applying? Would you like to know what Jim learned?
